Do you ever feel bored at school and you want to go somewhere where you can just relax and talk with friends? Mater Dei has just the right place for you. Now introducing… the Digital Lounge! Yes, it is a wonderful place where students can relax, do their homework, or even chat with friends. It is located right next to Mrs. Angeles’ and Mr. Brunner’s offices and most knew it as, “the ping pong room.” The lounge was made to basically bring in students to have somewhere to hang out. Teachers of course are there if anyone needs anything. Unlike the library, you can actually talk. The lounge is really more of a social place rather than a quiet studying place. If you want to work on homework or are just looking for some entertainment, there are computers, air conditioning, and even TV’s there for anyone’s needs.

Since the lounge seems to be entertaining, of course many people want to go there. The question is how many people can be in there at a time? Unfortunately, because the lounge only provides so many tables and seats, ten people are permitted to be in the lounge at a time. Of course, there are certain rules that one must follow. Since the lounge is seen as a comfortable place to be, many students tend to eat in there because it is break or lunch. Fortunately, food is allowed! The lounge provides TV’s to watch, which are usually playing entertaining movies and shows. Students can even suggest to whoever is in charge to play a movie if they would like.

Students have been suggesting something like the new lounge for a while, because it provides a place that feels somewhat like home. Senior Sarah Yeaton enjoys the new lounge. She says, “Being in the lounge somewhat makes it feel like home because I can have a good laugh with my friends without being told to quiet down. In the library, I have to be quiet but now being here makes me feel like I can be comfortable and it is okay to be socializing. Whenever it’s too hot outside, I like to spend my time in the lounge. I’m usually organizing my binders for other classes or just with my friends. It’s really comfortable and the TV’s and environment make it really relaxing.” Besides being able to socialize, students are permitted to use their cellphone, but of course for only academic purposes. After school, free tutoring is available for anyone who needs help.  Students on campus should really check out this new lounge to see if they like it!
